Syria claims to have dismantled Hezbollah-linked cell involved in assassination plots

Syrian Authorities Arrest Hezbollah-Linked Cell, Accusations Denied by Lebanese Group

A series of simultaneous security operations were carried out by Syrian authorities in various regions, including Damascus countryside and provinces of Aleppo, Homs, Tartous, and Latakia. The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the raids resulted in the dismantling of an organized cell affiliated with Hezbollah.

According to the ministry, the cell’s members infiltrated Syrian territory after undergoing specialized training in Lebanon. Preliminary investigations revealed that the cell was planning targeted assassinations against high-level government officials. Authorities seized military equipment, including explosive devices and RPG launchers.

The ministry released photos of 11 suspects, but did not disclose their nationalities. The person allegedly in charge of planning and supervising the attacks was among those detained. Hezbollah has issued a statement categorically denying the false accusations made by the Syrian interior ministry.

Hezbollah stated that despite repeated declarations that the group has no presence inside Syrian territory, the accusations continue to be made. The group expressed concerns that these claims may be used to ignite tensions and strife between the Syrian and Lebanese peoples.
