Syrian Army Conducts Strikes Against Kurdish-Led SDF East of Aleppo

Syrian Army Launches Military Operation Against Kurdish Fighters in Deir Hafer

A military operation has been launched by the Syrian army against Kurdish fighters in the Kurdish-controlled area of Deir Hafer, following violent clashes in Aleppo. The Syrian army issued warnings on Friday ahead of strikes targeting the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir Hafer.

According to the Syrian army, its operations will target areas used by Kurdish forces as a launching point for their activities towards the city of Aleppo and its eastern countryside. In response, SDF leader Mazloum Abdi announced that his forces would withdraw from the area east of Aleppo to redeploy east of the Euphrates River.

Abdi stated in a social media post that the decision was made based on calls from friendly countries and mediators. The withdrawal is set to take place at 7 am GMT tomorrow morning. The Syrian army’s move comes despite a meeting between the US-led coalition and Kurdish forces aimed at easing tensions between the two sides.

The situation remains fluid, with further developments expected.
