Egypt’s Amina Orfi Wins PSA World Championship Title

Amina Orfi, 18, defeated her compatriot Nour El-Sherbini in a five-set match to claim the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Championships title. The final took place on Saturday in Giza, Egypt.

Orfi won the match with a score of 6-11, 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 14-12, becoming the youngest women’s world champion and the first player to hold both world junior and senior PSA championship titles. The match lasted for 118 minutes, making it the eighth-longest women’s match in history.

In the semifinals, Orfi defeated top-ranked Hania El-Hammamy in a four-set match, winning 11-7, 11-8, 11-9. She then went on to face El-Sherbini in the final, with the two players having previously competed against each other in the tournament.

Orfi’s victory marked her 12th PSA title and came after a season of tough losses. “I’m speechless,” she said after the match. “I worked hard to get here.”

The men’s tournament was also won by Mostafa Asal, who defeated Youssef Ibrahim in the final with a score of 11-4, 11-1, 12-10.
