Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Scores 39 Off 14 Balls Against Mumbai Indians
In a recent match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit 39 runs off 14 balls for Rajasthan Royals. The team scored 150/3 in 11 overs, with Sooryavanshi sharing a partnership of 80 runs with teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Sooryavanshi faced Jasprit Bumrah, a senior bowler from Mumbai Indians, and hit him over the wide long-on fence for a six. He repeated this feat three balls later, pulling the ball over deep backward square leg. Sooryavanshi’s impressive display earned praise from Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya, who described it as “fascinating” to see the young batsman take on one of the world’s best bowlers.
Sooryavanshi also faced Trent Boult and Shardul Thakur, scoring runs off both. However, his innings was cut short by a stunning catch in the deep by Tilak Varma. Sooryavanshi was visibly upset after being dismissed, but Jaiswal praised him for his talent and work ethic.
Sooryavanshi made history last year’s IPL with a 35-ball century, which is the second-fastest in T20 tournament history. He has already gained recognition at youth international level, scoring 175 runs off just 80 balls as India beat England in the Under-19 World Cup final.
