Tennis: Kyrgios defeats Sabalenka in highly anticipated Battle of the Sexes match

Australian Tennis Player Kyrgios Beats Sabalenka in Exhibition Match

In an exhibition match held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. The match took place on Sunday and was part of a highly publicized “Battle of the Sexes” event.

Kyrgios, currently ranked 671st in the men’s rankings, won the match with scores of 6-3, 6-3. The modified rules used in the match included limiting Sabalenka to only one serve per point and reducing the size of her side of the court by nine percent.

The event drew attention due to its unique format and the contrast between Kyrgios’s playing style and that of King, who defeated Riggs in a 1973 exhibition match. The original match was notable for being part of the women’s professional tour’s fight for legitimacy and prize money.

Kyrgios has been inactive in ATP matches over the past three seasons, but his performance against Sabalenka demonstrated his ability to compete at a high level. Despite appearing out of breath during the second set, Kyrgios persevered and ultimately secured the win on serve.

Both players expressed their respect for each other’s skills, with Kyrgios praising Sabalenka as “a hell of a competitor” and Sabalenka stating that she would “love” to have a rematch.
