Thunders Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Team to 2-1 Playoff Lead Over Spurs

Oklahoma City Thunder Defeat San Antonio Spurs 123-108 in NBA Western Conference Finals

The Oklahoma City Thunder secured a crucial 2-1 lead in their NBA Western Conference Finals series with a 123-108 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 26 points, while Jared McCain contributed 24 points from the bench.

Four members of the Thunder’s bench finished in double figures, including Jaylin Williams who scored 18 points and drained five three-pointers. Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs’ scoring with 26 points, while Devin Vassell added 20.

The game got off to a fast start, with the Spurs taking an early 15-0 lead. However, the Thunder quickly regrouped and pulled back into the game. Oklahoma City took the lead in the second quarter, thanks in part to three-pointers from Ajay Mitchell and Alex Caruso.

As the intensity of the game increased, a melee broke out between players, with Stephon Castle being pushed by Mitchell and Vassell getting into a shoving match with him. The Thunder maintained their advantage throughout the fourth quarter, ultimately securing the win.

Coach Mark Daigneault praised his team’s “poise” after the game, saying that they showed great poise to understand the 48-minute nature of the game. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson acknowledged that his team was not able to sustain their fast start, but noted that they played well overall. The series now heads to San Antonio for Game 4 on Sunday.
