US Attorney Jeanine Pirro Confirms Suspect’s Role in White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting
A US Attorney has confirmed that Cole Tomas Allen, a suspect accused of attempting to kill President Donald Trump, was the individual who shot a Secret Service agent at the White House correspondents’ dinner last month. According to officials, investigators have found evidence linking Allen to the incident.
Pirro stated during an interview with CNN that Allen’s bullet definitively hit the Secret Service agent. She also described the suspect as having “every intention” to kill the president and anyone else in his path. The investigation has revealed that a pellet from Allen’s shotgun was intertwined with the fiber of the agent’s protective vest.
The determination has led to speculation about potential additional charges against Allen, who faces three existing charges: attempting to assassinate Trump, transporting a firearm across states with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. A sentence of life in prison is possible for anyone convicted of attempted assassination.
According to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Allen traveled from his home near Los Angeles to Chicago and then Washington, DC, before arriving at the White House correspondents’ dinner on April 24. During the event, Allen approached a security checkpoint on the hotel’s terrace, where he was heard making a loud gunshot. A Secret Service officer, wearing a ballistic vest, fired five times at Allen, who fell to the ground and was subsequently arrested.
Allen was carrying a shotgun, a semiautomatic pistol, and three knives during the incident. The shooting has been described as the third assassination attempt against Trump since 2024.
