Trump Criticizes German Politician Over Comments on Iran War

US President Donald Trump Criticizes German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Over Iran War Stance

In a social media post on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump expressed his disagreement with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s comments on the ongoing conflict in Iran. Merz had described the military campaign as “ill-considered” and suggested that Washington is being “humiliated” by Tehran’s negotiating tactics.

Trump stated that Merz does not understand the situation, saying that if Iran were to possess a nuclear weapon, the world would be at risk. He also claimed that he is taking action with Iran that other nations or presidents should have done earlier.

Merz had previously expressed support for Israel and had praised its military actions against Iran last year. However, in his comments on the current conflict, Merz took a more critical stance, highlighting the potential risks of prolonged involvement in conflicts like this.

The US president has been seeking support from European allies in the conflict, but many have refused to directly participate or provide assistance. Trump had previously threatened to cut off trade with Spain over its opposition to the war.

In response to Merz’s comments, Trump defended his actions, saying that he is taking necessary steps to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. The US State Department has released a legal justification for the war, citing Washington’s inherent right of self-defence and its collective self-defence with Israel.

The situation highlights the differing views on the conflict between the US and European allies, including Germany.
