Trump Expresses Doubt Over Irans Peace Proposal Acceptability

US President Donald Trump Confirms Review of Iran’s 14-Point Peace Plan

In a press conference in Florida on Saturday, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he has been briefed on Iran’s 14-point proposal to end the conflict between the two countries. The plan, which was announced earlier this week, calls for the lifting of the US naval blockade, war reparations, and the release of all frozen assets.

Trump stated that the US is reviewing the proposal, but warned that strikes could resume if Tehran “misbehaves”. When asked about the possibility of renewed hostilities, Trump replied that there is a chance it could happen. He also claimed that Iran is desperate for a settlement due to the country’s economic situation and the impact of months-long conflict.

The 14-point plan, which was reportedly submitted by Iranian officials, seeks a 30-day window to finalize the terms of the peace agreement. However, Trump stated that this timeline is not acceptable to Washington.

The diplomatic push comes amid a fragile three-week truce between the US and Iran, which has put an end to the US-Israel war on Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that it remains on “full standby” for a return to hostilities, citing the US’s lack of commitment to previous treaties.

The situation is further complicated by technical obstacles, including Iranian sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, and a growing rift with NATO allies following Trump’s decision to withdraw 5,000 US troops from Germany.
