Trump Pushes Lebanon Truce Amid Irans Vow to End Talks

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Hezbollah, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to launch attacks on southern Beirut suburbs.

According to Netanyahu’s office, the attacks were intended to be carried out in response to continued Hezbollah attacks on Israeli cities. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Netanyahu stated that military operations in southern Lebanon would continue as planned.

The developments were further complicated by warnings from Iran, which indicated that it could suspend negotiations with the US if Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon continues.

As of day 95 of the conflict, a significant de-escalation effort has been made. Trump confirmed that Hezbollah and Israel have agreed to halt hostilities, aiming to prevent a wider war in Lebanon.

The situation remains fluid, with ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. Netanyahu’s office reiterated its stance on military operations in southern Lebanon, while Iran maintained its threat to suspend negotiations with the US if the conflict escalates further. The ceasefire agreement has brought a temporary reprieve from hostilities, but the underlying tensions remain unresolved.
