US President Donald Trump Visits Beijing for First Time in Nine Years
Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with US President Donald Trump in Beijing, marking the first time they have met since 2014. The two leaders are expected to discuss various global issues, including trade tensions, conflicts in Iran, and concerns over Taiwan.
Trump’s visit comes as global tensions continue to rise. The US-China trade war, which began in 2018, is still ongoing, with both countries imposing tariffs on each other’s goods. Additionally, the conflict in Iran has escalated in recent months, leading to increased tensions between the US and its allies.
Taiwan, a self-governing island claimed by China, is also a point of contention between the two nations. The US has maintained a policy of “strategic ambiguity” towards Taiwan, while China views it as a renegade province that must be brought under its control.
The meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping will likely focus on finding common ground on these issues. However, with rivalries between the two countries running high, it remains to be seen whether they can find a mutually beneficial solution.
