Trump seeks European assistance in conflict with Iran

Former French Ambassador Gerard Araud has expressed concerns about European involvement in potential military action against Iran.

Araud stated that there is no favorable outcome for any party involved in such a conflict. In response to US President Donald Trump’s efforts to engage European countries in the war effort, Araud emphasized that if European nations were to be included at an early stage, they should have been considered from the outset.

The former ambassador drew parallels between the current situation and the US involvement in Vietnam during the 1960s. He noted that the White House continued to escalate its military presence, creating a misleading impression of progress towards a resolution. Araud’s comments suggest that similar tactics may be employed in any potential conflict with Iran.

Araud’s remarks were made during an interview with host Steve Clemons. The former ambassador’s statements highlight the complexities and challenges associated with military intervention in complex regional conflicts.
