Trump threatens Iran with consequences if talks remain stalled

US President Reiterates Demands on Iran

In a recent post on his social media platform, US President Donald Trump has reiterated his demands for Iran’s compliance with several key objectives. The list includes dismantling its nuclear program, severing ties with regional allies, and ending its missile arsenal.

Trump’s administration had previously outlined these goals following the joint Israeli-US attack on Iran on February 28. Since then, the conflict has continued, with Trump making various statements on social media, including a post suggesting wholesale destruction in Iran.

On April 7, Trump coupled these demands with a statement suggesting potential consequences for Iranian officials who attack US vessels. In response, the US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire that remains in place.

Separately, Trump had previously threatened to attack Iran’s civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, which legal experts warn could be a violation of international law. Iran has denounced such rhetoric and rejected Trump’s demands as excessive.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump stated that Iranian officials would face severe consequences if they attacked US vessels. Iran has responded by accusing the US of seeking concessions it failed to obtain during the war.

Mehr, a news agency sponsored by the Iranian government, issued a statement saying that the US has offered no tangible concessions in its latest proposals. The agency accused the US of attempting to obtain concessions through aggressive rhetoric.

Iran’s armed forces spokesperson, Abolfazl Shakarchi, warned the US against further threats, stating that such language would result in severe consequences. Al Jazeera correspondent Almigdad Alruhaid reported from Tehran that the Iranian government views violent rhetoric as unacceptable and is projecting defiance rather than responding immediately to such statements.

The ceasefire remains in place, but tensions between the two countries continue to rise. Analysts will be watching for any further developments in the conflict.
