Venezuela’s Machado Has Not Spoken to Trump Since October, Opposition Leader Says

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido’s ally, Maria Pia Freile, has stated that she has not spoken to US President Donald Trump since an attack on her in October.

Freile made the statement during a live broadcast from Venezuela, where she vowed to return to the country despite the risks. The attack occurred when Freile was traveling with Guaido, who is recognized by many countries as the interim president of Venezuela.

In a separate development, Trump has expressed concerns about Machado’s ability to govern effectively after Maduro was ousted.

Trump stated that Machado lacks the “respect” to govern, following an interview with ABC News in which he discussed his views on Venezuela’s opposition leader.
