Trumps Approval Rating on Immigration Hits Record Low in New Poll

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll has revealed that a significant portion of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s handling of immigration issues. According to the survey, conducted between Friday and Sunday, only 39% of respondents expressed approval for Trump’s approach on immigration.

The poll comes amid controversy surrounding two fatal shootings linked to Trump’s policies on migrants. A US border agent was involved in the shooting of a 37-year-old ICU nurse in Minneapolis, Minnesota, over the weekend. This incident follows another fatal shooting of a 37-year-old mother of three by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent earlier this month.

The survey also found that 58% of respondents believe US Immigration and Customs agents have gone “too far” in their crackdown on unauthorized migration. In contrast, 26% think their actions are “about right,” while 12% believe they do not go far enough.

Trump has responded to the growing backlash by announcing plans to send his border tsar, Tom Homan, to Minneapolis. He also expressed positive sentiments towards Minnesota’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz, following a telephone conversation between the two men.
