Trumps Board of Peace for Gaza composition remains unclear

US President Donald Trump Unveils Three-Tiered Governance Structure for Gaza

A new governance structure for Gaza has been unveiled by the US government, with a three-tiered system that includes a top-level “Board of Peace” led by President Trump and figures close to Israel. The plan is expected to implement Trump’s 20-point proposal for Gaza.

The Board of Peace will be comprised of billionaires and individuals with ties to Israel, while Palestinians will be relegated to municipal duties under the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). Bulgarian diplomat Nickolay Mladenov has been appointed as the High Representative for the Board of Peace, overseeing the transition from Hamas rule.

The White House has also established a “Gaza Executive Board,” which will work with the Office of the High Representative and the NCAG. The Board is tasked with regional coordination and supporting effective governance in Gaza.

According to the White House statement, the Founding Executive Council holds the purse strings and sets the strategic vision for the plan. President Trump chairs the council and retains veto power. The lineup includes leaders from Egypt, Turkey, and Jordan, as well as world leaders such as Argentina’s President Javier Milei and Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The US government has asked countries to contribute at least $1 billion to become permanent members of the Board of Peace. Non-permanent membership would remain free. The plan has been met with criticism from experts, who describe it as resembling a “commercial trusteeship.”
