Trumps Board of Peace Seeks Broader Mandate Beyond Gaza Region

US President Invites World Leaders to Join “Board of Peace”

United States President Donald Trump has extended invitations to world leaders and prominent figures to participate in his proposed “board of peace”. The board, initially unveiled as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, is expected to focus on governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization in Gaza.

According to reports, Trump’s letters to invited leaders, including Argentinian President Javier Milei and Paraguay’s leader Santiago Pena, outlined a wider vision for the board. A “charter” accompanying the letter stated that the board aims to promote stability, restore dependable governance, and secure enduring peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict.

The invitations include several high-profile leaders from around the world, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The board is expected to have a diverse membership, with representatives from various countries and international organizations.

A senior US official confirmed that an expanded role for the board of peace remains “aspirational”, but emphasized that it was not intended to replace the United Nations. The official stated that Trump’s administration believes such a role is possible, particularly given repeated frustrations expressed by Washington and other UN members with the international organization.

The board’s founding executive members include Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, Marc Rowan, Ajay Banga, and Robert Gabriel. A separate “Gaza executive board” has also been established to oversee a technocratic committee of Palestinians, which will handle day-to-day governance in Gaza.

The details of the board’s charter and its proposed mandate remain unclear, but Trump’s administration has confirmed that it is working on a comprehensive plan for the organization.
