Trumps Board of Peace urged to intervene in Gaza violence

Hamas Requests Meeting with Trump’s “Board of Peace” Over Ongoing Violations in Gaza

A meeting between Hamas representatives and President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” is scheduled for Thursday in Washington, DC. The board, established by Trump to oversee the Gaza truce and reconstruction efforts, will hold its first formal meeting.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem has called on the board to facilitate the entry of a committee of technocrats chosen to govern the destroyed Strip and begin reconstruction efforts. He also urged the lifting of the siege on Gaza and opening of crossings, as well as an end to Israeli occupation-related violence.

According to the Health Ministry, over 600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the Hamas-Israel truce deal began on October 10, 2025. At least 1,600 others have been wounded in Israeli shelling, gunfire, and air strikes.

The board’s first meeting comes as Palestinians in Gaza wait for the second phase of the peace agreement to fully come into force. The US has reported that less than 60 percent of crucial aid consignments from Egypt are being allowed inside Gaza, with humanitarian movements facing obstacles due to Israeli authorities.

The “Board of Peace” was launched by Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January and has since attracted support from at least 19 countries. The board’s purpose is to oversee international conflicts, including the Gaza truce and reconstruction efforts.

Israeli forces have continued to engage in military operations in Gaza, including artillery shelling and tank fire in various neighborhoods. Israeli naval gunboats also opened fire on fishermen off the Gaza coast, detaining two Palestinians.

The situation in Gaza remains tense, with ongoing violence and restrictions on movement and aid delivery. The UN Secretary-General’s office is working to clarify constraints and seek a resolution to facilitate humanitarian operations.
