Trumps presidency linked to surge in domestic and international violent incidents

US President Donald Trump has been targeted by three alleged attempted assassinations in recent years. The most recent incident occurred at a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where a shooting took place. This event follows a series of violent incidents that were motivated by politics last year.
In 2023, right-wing activist Charlie Kirk and Democratic state legislator Melissa Hortman were both assassinated. These incidents have raised questions about the current state of political violence in the US.
Professor Robert Pape, author of an upcoming book titled “Our Own Worst Enemies: America in the Age of Violent Populism”, will discuss this topic on a recent Al Jazeera English program called UpFront with Redi Tlhabi.
