UAE faces Iranian attacks for second consecutive day, according to ministry reports

Iran Denies Involvement in Recent Attacks on UAE

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has stated that its forces have not carried out any missile or drone operations against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in recent days. The IRGC denied the report, saying it would have announced such an action if it had occurred.

The UAE reported a second day of attacks on Tuesday, with at least three people injured and a fire sparked at a key oil facility in Fujairah. The results of the latest attack are not yet clear.

The escalation comes amid tensions between Iran and the US, following Washington’s launch of “Project Freedom”, an initiative to guide vessels through the Strait of Hormuz starting on Monday. The strait is a critical waterway for global energy exports, with about 20% of global energy passing through it.

In response to joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February, Iranian forces have taken control of the strait by attacking or threatening vessels without permission. This has led to a global energy shock and increased oil and gas prices.

The US imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports and shipping on April 13, limiting Tehran’s ability to export oil, import essential goods, and maintain foreign-exchange inflows. On Monday, Iranian forces fired on US warships, but the US Central Command denied that any vessels were hit.

Tehran also launched cruise missiles at US naval assets and US-flagged commercial ships on Monday, with six Iranian small boats destroyed and incoming missiles and drones intercepted. The UAE reported a fire broke out in Fujairah, home to a key oil terminal, resulting in injuries to three Indian nationals.
