UAE Oil Site Damaged by Drone Attack Amid Ongoing Tensions with Iran

A drone strike has occurred at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone in the United Arab Emirates, resulting in a fire at the facility. The attack is part of a series of incidents involving drones and missiles launched by Iran against Gulf countries.

According to reports, debris fell during the interception of a drone on Saturday, causing another fire at the oil hub. Additionally, air defence systems intercepted a ballistic missile in the Baniyas area, resulting in the death of a Pakistani national.

The Ministry of Defence stated that air defences in the UAE were repelling incoming missiles and drones from Iran, causing loud bangs and a brief closure of the country’s airspace. The UAE has faced repeated attacks by Iran, with over 1,800 missiles and drones fired at the country since the conflict began.

Other Gulf Arab states have also been affected, with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait reporting incidents involving intercepted drones and missiles. In Qatar, Civil Defence staff responded to a “limited fire” in an industrial area after shrapnel fell from an intercepted missile. In Saudi Arabia, two drones were intercepted and destroyed, while six more were engaged by Saudi forces.

The Gulf Cooperation Council countries issued a joint statement condemning the Iranian attacks and pledging to defend their territories.
