UFC Fight Night Australia: Carlos Prates defeats Jack Della Maddalena

Brazilian welterweight Carlos Prates wins fight against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC Fight Night in Perth, Australia.

Prates defeated Della Maddalena via knockout in the third round to improve his record to 24-7 with 19 wins by knockout. The Australian fighter fell to 18-4 with 12 wins by KO after losing his second consecutive fight.

In a post-fight interview, Prates called for a match against the winner of an upcoming welterweight title fight between champion Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Makhachev. Prates stated that he is confident in his abilities, citing his skills in punching, kicking, and kneeing as reasons for his victory.

Prates’ win was part of a successful night for Australian fighters, with Quillan Salkilld winning the co-main event via technical knockout against Beneil Dariush. Other winners on the main card included Steve Erceg, Marwan Rahiki, Brando Pericic, and Louie Sutherland.

The upcoming welterweight title fight between Makhachev and Machado is still unconfirmed, but Prates’ victory has set him up as a potential challenger for the championship.
