UK PM Starmer calls on Prince Andrew to cooperate with Epstein investigation

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has suggested that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a former member of the British royal family, should provide information to US authorities as part of their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s activities.

During a press conference in Japan on Saturday, Starmer stated that anyone with relevant information should be willing to share it. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the victims of Epstein’s alleged abuse. When asked about whether Mountbatten-Windsor should issue an apology, Starmer said the decision was up to him.

The US Justice Department has announced plans to release over three million pages of documents, along with more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, as part of their investigation into Epstein’s dealings. The files are expected to shed light on Epstein’s relationships with prominent individuals, including Steve Bannon, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump.

Mountbatten-Windsor has previously declined an invitation from the US House Oversight Committee for a transcribed interview about his friendship with Epstein. The release of these documents has sparked renewed interest in whether he should cooperate with US authorities.

The files also contain emails showing that Epstein had contact with other prominent figures, including billionaires Bill Gates and Elon Musk. Additionally, they reveal a 2018 email exchange between Epstein’s office and former Obama White House general counsel Kathy Ruemmler, which included invitations to social gatherings with Epstein and others.

Criticism has been raised about the US Department of Justice’s handling of the latest disclosure, with some Epstein accusers expressing concerns that the release of these documents could put them at risk of re-traumatization.
