UK probes possible use of military bases by Jeffrey Epstein in sex trafficking

Investigation Launched at Royal Air Force Bases Amid Epstein Probe

The UK Defence Secretary, John Healey, has instructed officials to search through Ministry of Defence files dating back two decades in an effort to uncover potential links between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the country’s Royal Air Force (RAF) bases. The investigation follows reports that Epstein allegedly used private jets that landed at RAF facilities to transport trafficked women and girls into the UK.

Healey has called for a thorough examination of the files, urging officials to “leave no stone unturned” in their search for any connections between Epstein’s private jet operations and RAF bases. This development comes days after former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged police to investigate whether Prince Andrew, Duke of York, had used taxpayer-funded jet travel and RAF bases to meet with Epstein.

Separately, the UK’s Intelligence and Security Committee has announced plans to publish documents related to the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the UK’s ambassador to the United States. The committee hopes to release the first tranche of documents in early March. Mandelson was briefly arrested by London’s Metropolitan Police as part of their investigation into his ties to Epstein.

Meanwhile, the European Union’s anti-fraud office OLAF has launched an inquiry into Mandelson’s actions while serving as British commissioner for trade between 2004 and 2008. The investigation follows a request from the European Commission.
