Ukraine launches drone attack on Russian oil facility

Drone Attacks Hit Russia’s Energy Infrastructure

A coordinated drone attack by Ukraine has targeted Russian energy infrastructure across multiple regions, resulting in significant damage to several facilities. The attacks occurred overnight, with the most notable strike hitting Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, where a major port fire broke out after drones hit a tanker, fuel tank, and administrative building.

According to Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar, two civilians were injured when a drone struck a private home in Taganrog. Russian air defenses destroyed multiple drones across four districts, including the city of Taganrog, Chertkovsky, Matveyevo-Kurgansky, and Neklinovsky.

In addition to the attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, Ukrainian forces also targeted an oil facility in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai. The Volgograd oil refinery was forced to shut down following drone strikes. Giant fuel tanks burned near Yaroslavl after Ukrainian drone attacks.

The attacks have left approximately 13,000 residents without electricity in Zaporizhzhia due to damage to energy infrastructure. The Sumy region has also suffered damage to infrastructure, homes, and vehicles.

Meanwhile, Russia launched 90 drones and two ballistic missiles at Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on Friday that Russia is organizing a new large-scale assault on Ukraine, citing intelligence indicating the country’s plans for such an attack.

In related news, a Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in eastern Romania on Friday, injuring two people and heightening tensions between Moscow and NATO.
