Sudanese Rapid Support Forces Launch Drone Attacks on Humanitarian Aid Convoys
A series of drone attacks by the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has targeted humanitarian aid convoys and fuel trucks in North Kordofan, resulting in at least one fatality and multiple injuries. According to officials and medical organizations, the strikes occurred along a key road connecting el-Obeid with Kosti in White Nile state.
The North Kordofan state government condemned the attacks on Friday’s convoy linked to the World Food Programme (WFP), urging international bodies and the United Nations to impose sanctions on RSF leadership. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have been engaged in fighting with the RSF since October 2025, following el-Fasher’s capture by the group.
The attacks took place in Er-Rahad, Allah Kareem, and Um Rawaba, damaging vehicles carrying UN relief supplies. The WFP has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. The Sudan Doctors Network described the attack as a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law” and called for an independent investigation into the incident.
The United States condemned the incident, stating that it “condemns the recent drone attack on a World Food Program convoy in North Kordofan transporting food to famine-stricken people.” The US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, expressed concern over the destruction of life and U.S.-funded assistance.
The conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF has resulted in significant human suffering, with tens of thousands killed, nearly 11 million displaced, and multiple regions experiencing famine conditions. The United Nations estimates that over 21 million Sudanese face acute food insecurity, with two-thirds requiring urgent humanitarian assistance.
