US President Donald Trump signals openness to talks with Iran over nuclear programme.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the administration of US President Donald Trump has indicated openness to new negotiations aimed at ending the war between the two countries. The communication was made during a BRICS meeting, where Araghchi also mentioned a “deadlock” remaining over the issue of Iran’s enriched nuclear material.
In related news, Lebanon and Israel have agreed to extend their fragile ceasefire by 45 days beyond Sunday’s deadline. The agreement was reached following talks in the United States. However, despite this development, Israeli forces continued to carry out attacks on towns and villages in southern Lebanon, resulting in at least 12 deaths, including three paramedics.
According to reports, Trump suggested that he could be open to Iran placing its civilian nuclear programme on hold for two decades, provided Tehran demonstrates a genuine commitment to a broader agreement. The details of this proposal are currently unclear.
The situation remains fluid, with ongoing developments and negotiations between the parties involved. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
