Tehran Experiences Multiple Explosions Amid Ongoing Conflict
Multiple explosions were reported in Tehran and other cities across Iran on Tuesday. The Iranian capital was hit overnight, with reports of damage to a gas administration building and pipeline.
According to Fars news agency, an attack targeted the Khorramshahr power plant’s gas pipeline processing station, causing damage outside the facility. Additionally, a projectile struck the area surrounding the gas pressure regulation station on Kaveh Street in Isfahan.
A leading scholar, Saeed Shamaghdari, was killed along with his two children in an attack on his residence north of Tehran. Shamaghdari was a professor at the Iran University of Science and Technology’s engineering department.
Iran has denied holding talks with the US to end the war, despite US President Donald Trump claiming “very good and productive conversations” had taken place towards ending the conflict. Iranian officials have stated that they need to think wisely before entering into any discussions with the US.
The attacks come amid signs of a diplomatic channel opening, with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abass Araghchi holding calls with several countries in the last 24 hours. However, it is unclear whether diplomacy will be given a chance.
The conflict has expanded across the Middle East, leading to a spike in oil prices and triggering a global energy crisis. The Gulf region continues to face direct military spillover, with Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems intercepting and destroying multiple drones launched at its Eastern Province.
