US and Israel Launch Airstrikes on Iran, Airlines Ground Flights Temporarily

Multiple Countries Close Airspace Amid Regional Conflict

At least eight countries, including Iran, Israel, Jordan, and Qatar, have closed their airspace due to ongoing regional violence. The conflict began on Saturday with the United States and Israel carrying out strikes in Iran, which was intended to target the country’s missile industry and navy.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and several Gulf Arab states that host US military assets. This led to a wave of retaliation from these countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

The airspace closures have had significant effects on global air travel, with many airlines canceling or diverting flights to destinations in the Middle East. The region is an important route for flights between Europe and Asia, but Russian and Ukrainian airspace are also closed due to ongoing conflicts there.

Several major airlines, including Air India, Lufthansa, Air France, Iberia, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and British Airways, have announced suspensions or cancellations of flights to destinations in the region. The disruptions have been described as “parallel” conflicts by Al Jazeera reporter Ali Hashem, who noted that they are further deepening instability in the area.

The situation is being closely monitored by authorities around the world, with at least eight countries having closed their airspace.
