US and Israeli Forces Launch Large-Scale Attack on Iran
A recent report by Airwars, a UK-based nonprofit organization, has found that the initial days of the US-Israeli assault against Iran have resulted in significantly more targets being hit per day than any other campaign in recent decades. The attack, which began on Saturday, has seen US and Israeli officials declare hitting approximately 4,000 targets across Iran in its first four days.
According to Airwars, this pace surpasses previous conflicts, including the US-led campaign against ISIS (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria in 2014, as well as Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip. The report notes that while comparisons between conflicts can be imperfect due to varying levels of information release by militaries, the Iran campaign appears to be outpacing any other recent US air war.
US President Donald Trump has stated that any deal with Iran must result in the country’s unconditional surrender. Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has also announced plans to intensify attacks against Iran, stating that the next phase of the war will focus on undermining the Iranian regime.
The attack has resulted in at least 1,332 civilian deaths across Iran, according to Iranian state media outlets. The assault has also prompted retaliatory strikes by Iranian forces, including missile and drone attacks across the Middle East.
