US and Israeli missiles strike two schools near Tehran

Two schools in Parand, southwest of Tehran, have been targeted by missiles fired by the United States and Israel, according to reports from Iran’s semiofficial Fars news agency. The agency shared images of damage and debris at one of the affected locations, which appeared to be a classroom, as well as photos of damaged residential units nearby.
The attack occurred just six days after another incident in Minab, where 165 people were killed, including most schoolgirls aged seven to 12. At least 95 others were injured in that attack. The US and Israel launched a war on Iran on the same day, leading to exchanges of fire across the Middle East.
Iranian authorities have confirmed the death toll from the Minab attack at 165 people. In response to the latest incident, Israeli and US authorities have sought to distance themselves from the attack, with the US stating it was unaware that a school had been hit. Some Israeli sources claim the site was part of an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps base, but an investigation by Al Jazeera’s digital investigations unit found that the school was separate from the alleged military site for at least 10 years.
The strike pattern has raised questions about the accuracy of intelligence information used in the bombing. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously stated that the attack was a “cold-blooded murder” of innocents.
