US Base in Iraq Hit by Drone Attack Amid Region-Wide Conflict

Multiple explosions reported across Gulf Arab states as US assets come under attack.
Reports from local media indicate that Iraqi forces have shot down a drone targeting a United States military base near Baghdad International Airport. The incident occurred on Wednesday night and was intercepted before it reached its target. Videos showing the drone’s crash in the Al-Bu’aitha area of Baghdad were released early Thursday.
Iran has continued to strike US assets in Arab countries, with reports emerging of explosions and downed drones in Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait. The Bahrain Defence Force announced that it had destroyed 75 missiles and 123 drones targeting the Kingdom since the start of the conflict.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and a coalition of US and Israeli forces. Authorities in Qatar reported intercepting a missile attack, while the Saudi Ministry of Defence stated that it had shot down multiple drones entering its territory.
In Oman, an incident involving one of the country’s storage tanks was reported, with preliminary assessments suggesting minor damage. The Oil Marketing Company said operations at the affected site were taken offline as a precautionary measure.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior reported an explosion on board an oil tanker outside its territorial waters, resulting in no injuries but potential environmental damage. The US embassy compound in Doha has been evacuated as a precautionary measure due to ongoing tensions.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that it had fired 230 drones at facilities hosting US troops in the Middle East, including a base in Erbil and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.
