US Considering Invasion of Iran Amid Trump Administrations Actions

US Military Deploys Additional Troops to Middle East as War Enters Second Month

The US Department of Defense has deployed additional troops to the Middle East in recent days, according to reports. The deployments are part of a broader effort to prepare for potential limited ground operations in Iran.

Two unnamed US officials have confirmed that the Defense Department is planning raids on Kharg Island, where 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports are processed, and coastal sites near the Strait of Hormuz. The strait, which transports 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supplies, has been closed by Iran since the first US-Israeli strikes on Tehran a month ago.

The US military plans, which have not been officially announced, are reportedly aimed at disrupting Iran’s oil exports and crippling global energy markets. The deployment of additional troops is seen as part of this effort.

US President Donald Trump has stated that he wants to “take the oil in Iran” and seize Kharg Island. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that US troops would face resistance if they attempted an invasion.

The US military presence in the Middle East has been increasing since the start of this year, with a surge in airpower deployments. The Pentagon has ordered additional forces to the Gulf, including three distinct formations of Marines and soldiers.

As of mid-2025, there were 40,000 to 50,000 US soldiers stationed around the Middle East. Trump has increased the military presence in the region, deploying warships and aircraft since early February. The deployments have been sustained operational planning rather than routine rotations, according to open-source intelligence analysts and military flight-tracking data.

The total number of additional soldiers deployed since the war on Iran began is nearly 7,000.
