US Forces Track Russian-Iranian Operations Amid Escalating Conflict
The Pentagon has confirmed that US forces are monitoring Russian-Iranian operations in the region, amid reports of intelligence sharing between the two countries. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated during a CBS 60 Minutes interview on Friday that the US is “tracking everything” and incorporating this information into its battle plans.
According to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, Russia has shared locations of US military assets with Iran since the start of the conflict on February 28. The sources described this as a comprehensive effort. However, anonymous officials told the Associated Press that US intelligence has not uncovered evidence that Russia is directing Iran on what to do with the information.
Hegseth downplayed concerns about the reports, stating that the US is “not concerned” about potential harm to US citizens. He emphasized that the American people can trust their commander-in-chief to be aware of who is communicating with whom.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also commented on the report, saying it has not affected military operations in Iran. Trump was asked about the reported intelligence sharing during a White House meeting, but declined to comment further.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has been in dialogue with Iranian representatives and will continue this conversation. When pressed for information on potential military assistance, Peskov refrained from comment.
The US and Israel have launched a war on Iran since February 28, which has resulted in retaliatory attacks by Iran against US assets and allies in the Gulf. The conflict has intensified tensions between Russia, Iran, and the US.
