US Embassy in Poland Announces End of Contact with Parliamentary Speaker
The US embassy in Poland has announced that it will be ending all dealings with the country’s parliamentary speaker, Wlodzimierz Czarzasty, following what the embassy described as “outrageous” insults directed at President Donald Trump. Ambassador Tom Rose stated that the decision to sever ties would take effect immediately.
Czarzasty had previously criticized Trump, stating that he does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and slamming his “policy of force” in international affairs. The Polish politician pointed to Trump’s tariffs on European countries, threats to seize Greenland, and claims that NATO allies had stayed off the front lines during the war in Afghanistan.
Rose described Czarzasty’s comments as “unprovoked” and stated that they undermined strong US-Polish ties. He also emphasized that the embassy would not permit anyone to harm US-Polish relations or disrespect Trump, who has been praised by many for his support of Poland.
Czarzasty maintained his stance despite the rebuke, saying that he respects the United States as an ally but stands by his views on Trump’s eligibility for the Nobel Peace Prize. He also expressed regret over Ambassador Rose’s declaration but refused to change his position on key issues affecting Polish citizens.
This incident is not the first time Czarzasty has publicly criticized Trump. In January, he joined other high-ranking Polish politicians in rebuking Trump’s comments about NATO allies. The US-led coalition fighting in Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of 43 Polish soldiers and one civil servant.
