US Gas Prices Reach $4.30 Per Gallon Amid Speculation of Future Decline

US Petrol Prices Rise Amid Strait of Hormuz Blockade and Iran Diplomatic Deadlock

The average price of one gallon of gasoline in the United States has increased to $4.30, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), a rise of 27 cents over the past week. This increase comes as tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate, with the Strait of Hormuz blockade remaining in place.

The AAA reports that prices for gas have surged above $100 per barrel, with no indication of when the Strait of Hormuz will reopen. California has seen petrol prices reach more than $6 per gallon on Thursday, the highest they’ve been in four years since late July 2022.

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his stance on the issue, stating that time is on his side in the standoff with Iran and that the gas prices will drop once the war is over. However, oil prices do not drop automatically after hostilities stop.

The US president’s comments come as global tensions continue to rise, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suggesting that Iran is running out of patience with the current situation. Tehran has refused to hold direct talks with the US until the siege is lifted.

The blockade and diplomatic deadlock have led to a surge in energy prices, fueling inflation and economic uncertainty. The US is one of the largest oil producers, but global prices affect what Americans pay at the pump.
