US Hospital Ship Offer Rejected by Greenland Authorities

US President Donald Trump Posts on Truth Social About Hospital Ship Bound for Greenland

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to send a hospital ship to Greenland, citing concerns over the island’s healthcare system. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that the US medical vessel is en route to Greenland to provide treatment to those in need.

Greenlandic authorities have responded by saying they are not interested in receiving the hospital ship. Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated that the island already has a public healthcare system with free treatment for citizens. “We have a deliberate choice to prioritize our own healthcare needs,” he said.

Nielsen also expressed frustration with Trump’s approach, suggesting that dialogue and cooperation would be more effective than making public statements on social media. The Danish government has maintained that Greenland’s population receives adequate healthcare, either in the island or in Denmark for specialized treatment.

Trump has previously expressed interest in the US taking control of Greenland, citing national security concerns. However, Greenland and European leaders have rejected this proposal, upholding the island’s sovereignty.
