Iran Reopens Strait of Hormuz with Conditions, Threatens Closure
The Strait of Hormuz has been reopened to commercial vessels, according to Iranian officials. The move comes as tensions persist around the waterway, which connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
US President Donald Trump recently stated that there are no remaining “sticking points” in negotiations, but insisted that the US blockade of Iranian ports will continue until any agreement is fully completed. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial vessels, subject to certain conditions.
Iran has previously agreed to coordinate maritime routes with Lebanon and other countries. The country’s stance on the matter appears to be in line with these agreements.
It has been reported that Iran is threatening to close the strait if the US blockade of Iranian ports continues. This development adds to the ongoing tensions surrounding the waterway.
The situation remains fluid, with multiple parties involved and competing interests at play. Further developments are expected as negotiations continue.
