US Military Deploys Plan to Guide Ships Through Strait of Hormuz
The US military has begun implementing Project Freedom, a plan aimed at guiding ships through the Strait of Hormuz, according to officials. The initiative is part of efforts to reduce tensions between the US and Iran in the region.
On Monday, the US military reported that it shot down seven small Iranian boats near the strait. This incident comes as tensions around the waterway have increased, with both countries accusing each other of aggression.
The US President has warned that any attack on US ships would result in severe consequences for Iran. In an interview with Fox News, he stated that the US military possesses more advanced equipment and a larger arsenal than before, citing its ability to respond to threats worldwide.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that it reached out to dozens of ships and shipping companies to encourage traffic flow through the strait. However, it is unclear how these vessels responded to the US assurances.
Iran has maintained that it remains in control of the waterway, with a senior Iranian official stating that the administration of the Hormuz Strait remains fully in Tehran’s hands. The country has also renewed its attacks on the UAE, engaging 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones.
The situation around the Strait of Hormuz continues to be fluid, with both countries taking steps to assert their influence in the region.
