US and Iran to Hold Talks on Thursday Amid Ongoing Military Build-up
The United States and Iran have scheduled additional talks for Thursday, despite a significant increase in US military presence in the region. The latest round of negotiations comes as the US has mobilized its largest military force since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
According to reports, Iranian officials have expressed willingness to engage in discussions with the US, while also maintaining a preparedness for conflict. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s comments on the situation have been characterized as mixed.
Details of the planned talks are not yet available, but it is understood that representatives from both countries will meet to discuss ongoing issues between them. The US military build-up in the region has raised concerns among some observers, who note that it is one of the largest deployments since the Iraq invasion.
The National Iranian American Council and the University of Tehran have issued statements on the situation, with Jamal Abdi, president of the council, and Hassan Ahmadian, associate professor at the university, set to provide further insight. Richard Weitz, senior fellow at the NATO Defense College, will also be joining the discussion. The talks are expected to shed light on the current state of relations between the US and Iran.
