US President Announces Deployment of Border Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota Amid Ongoing Protests
United States President Donald Trump has announced that he is sending his border czar, Tom Homan, to the state of Minnesota, where protests have been ongoing since federal immigration officers fatally shot a demonstrator, Alex Pretti, on Saturday. The incident occurred in Minneapolis, which is represented by Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
According to Trump’s social media post, Homan will report directly to him and will be investigating “massive welfare fraud” in Minnesota, which is believed to have contributed to the violent protests. Additionally, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Congress are reportedly examining Omar’s wealth, which has increased significantly due to her marriage.
Omar’s net worth has risen to over $44 million in recent years, largely due to her husband’s wealth. Trump had previously called for an investigation into Omar’s financial and political activities, stating that she should be investigated for “Financial and Political Crimes”.
The incident involving Pretti’s death has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for federal immigration officers to leave the city. Omar has been a vocal critic of Trump’s policies and rhetoric, including his attacks on the Somali community.
In related news, the US administration launched an immigration crackdown in Minnesota last year, which appeared to target the state’s Somali community. The incident has raised concerns about the treatment of immigrants and the use of force by federal agents.
Homan’s deployment to Minnesota comes as the administration grapples with the fallout from Pretti’s death and other incidents involving federal immigration officers.
