US military kills two people in eastern Pacific boat attack incident

US Military Conducts Strike on Vessel in Eastern Pacific Ocean

A strike was carried out by the US military against a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Monday, resulting in two fatalities and one survivor. The US Southern Command confirmed that the “lethal kinetic strike” targeted a vessel allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

According to the US Southern Command, the attack occurred at approximately 10:00 AM local time, and the survivor was notified immediately after the incident. The Coast Guard has been alerted to activate its Search and Rescue system for the survivor’s recovery.

This incident marks the third reported attack by the US military on vessels in the eastern Pacific Ocean since January, when Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was abducted during a raid on Caracas. Since then, the US has carried out 37 attacks against 39 vessels, resulting in at least 130 fatalities.

The US Southern Command released a video of the air strike, which shows the vessel being targeted and exploding seconds later. The survivor’s medical condition and chances of rescue are currently unknown.

The incident has sparked concerns among legal scholars, rights workers, and regional leaders about potential extrajudicial killings by the US military in international waters off Latin America.
