US Move Sparks Concern Over Mohamed Salahs Potential Transfer to MLS

Egypt’s National Team Director Ibrahim Hassan has expressed concerns that Mohamed Salah may fade into obscurity if he were to join Major League Soccer (MLS) after leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Salah, 33, is currently weighing his options after a successful nine-year spell with Liverpool, where he won two Premier League titles and the Champions League. MLS Commissioner Don Garber has stated that he would be interested in having Salah play for one of the league’s teams, but it remains unclear whether any team will attempt to sign him.
Hassan noted that Salah would likely lose his spotlight if he were to join MLS, comparing him to Lionel Messi, who joined Inter Miami in 2023 after a successful stint with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Hassan suggested that the Saudi Pro League could be a suitable option for Salah if he chooses not to stay in Europe.
In contrast, San Diego FC’s billionaire owner Mohamed Mansour has expressed enthusiasm for the possibility of signing Salah, citing his admiration for the Egyptian forward as an asset to any team or country. Mansour stated that Salah would undoubtedly bring value to any league and team, and that he is proud to have a compatriot who has achieved great success on the world stage.
Salah is currently sidelined by injury and will miss Egypt’s upcoming training camp ahead of the World Cup in North America. The Egyptian national team will face Spain in a friendly match in Barcelona on Tuesday as they prepare for the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19.
