US Naval Blockade Threatens to Derail Iran Ceasefire Efforts

Iranian Authorities Announce Plans to Halt Trade in Gulf if US Naval Blockade Continues

Tehran, Iran - Iranian officials have stated that they will suspend all trade activities in the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman, and Red Sea if the United States continues its naval blockade. According to Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), this action would be a response to the US’s “illegal” blockade.

The US military has confirmed that its blockade has effectively halted economic trade going into and out of Iran by sea. The Iranian government has expressed concerns about the impact of the blockade on their commercial vessels and oil tankers.

US President Donald Trump recently stated that the war is “close to over,” but no official date for a potential second round of talks with Iran has been confirmed. Thousands of additional American soldiers have been deployed to the Middle East on warships, according to US media reports.

A Pakistani delegation led by Vice President JD Vance is expected to participate in any future talks, although no date has been finalized. The goal of these discussions would be to “fully cease the war and realise the rights of Iran” while also lifting sanctions imposed on the country.

Iranian officials have emphasized that they do not seek a nuclear weapon but reserve the right to pursue civilian nuclear energy under United Nations safeguards. They have also criticized Rafael Grossi, director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, for statements and reports about their nuclear program.

In a separate development, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf held a phone call with UAE Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional developments and ways to de-escalate tensions.
