US Panel Approves Trumps Design for Massive Arch in Washington, D.C

US Commission Approves Trump’s Proposed Arch Design for Washington, DC

The US Commission of Fine Arts has given its approval to the proposed design for a 76-metre-high arch in Washington, DC, as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to erect a monumental structure. The commission’s members were appointed by Trump and have voted in favour of his design, which would be built on Memorial Circle between the Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial.

The arch is expected to be significantly larger than the Lincoln Memorial, standing at 99 feet tall, and about twice as tall as the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The monument’s design features gold lettering with phrases “One Nation Under God” and “Liberty and Justice for All” on either side.

The commission’s approval comes after public comments were received from over 3,000 people, with approximately three out of four expressing opposition to the project due to its enormous size. However, the arch is one of several Trump projects that have faced criticism, including plans to renovate the Kennedy Center and add a ballroom to the White House.

The US Commission still needs to vote on final approval for the proposal after reviewing updated designs. The construction of the arch would be subject to congressional approval, as some Vietnam War veterans are representing a lawsuit against the proposed construction.
