US President Donald Trump’s Image to Appear on Commemorative Passports
A limited-edition US passport is being issued to mark the country’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The passport, which features Trump’s portrait alongside elements of the document and the US flag, will be available to US citizens applying through the Washington Passport Agency.
According to the Department of State, the commemorative passports are part of broader plans to celebrate the milestone anniversary. The design includes an illustration of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence on one page, while another page features a painting of Francis Scott Key after the Battle of Fort McHenry.
The passport redesign is not the first instance of Trump’s personal branding in public life. His image has appeared on national park passes and a $1 coin draft design, as well as government buildings around Washington, DC. The US Mint has also released designs for other commemorative items, including a proposed $1 coin featuring Trump’s profile.
The State Department has confirmed that the commemorative passports will be available while supplies last, with distribution set to begin this summer.
