US President Trump announces 10-day Lebanon-Israel ceasefire agreement

US President Donald Trump has announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, effective at 21:00 GMT on Thursday.

According to Trump, he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to reach the agreement. The details of the ceasefire have not been disclosed.

Correspondent Obaida Hitto from Al Jazeera reports that the situation in Tyre remains “intense”.
