US President Trump confirms ongoing discussions with Iranian officials

US President Donald Trump Claims Ongoing Negotiations with Iran, Despite Uncertainty

President Trump stated on Tuesday evening that negotiations to end the conflict in Iran are underway, citing Tehran’s alleged desire for a deal. According to Trump, the US is discussing “the right people” to reach an agreement, which may include a significant gift related to oil and gas.

However, reports from Washington indicate that the US has sent a 15-point plan to Iran, which includes the end of its nuclear program and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The plan was reportedly handed over by Pakistan, according to media sources.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged receiving messages from “friendly countries” indicating a US request for negotiations. Negar Mortazavi, a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy, stated that Iran would want to end the war on its own terms and establish deterrence to prevent future conflicts.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military spokesman Effie Defrin confirmed that his country’s war plan remains unchanged, with the goal of “deepening the damage” and removing existential threats. The US is reportedly preparing to send thousands of additional troops to the region, fueling concerns about a prolonged conflict.

In Iran, a strike on Tuesday evening hit the Bushehr nuclear power plant, but caused no damage. Iranian attacks on Israel have resulted in injuries, including an infant, while recent failed interceptions have caused deaths and injuries.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 61% of Americans disapprove of the US attacks on Iran, compared to 59% last week. The survey also showed a decrease in approval ratings, with 35% now supporting the actions.
