US President Trump suspends planned Iran bombing operation for two-week period

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will suspend his planned bombing of Iran for two weeks, pending the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The decision was made after Trump posted a message on his social media platform Truth Social, stating that he had reversed course following conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to Trump’s statement, the suspension is contingent upon Iran’s agreement to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement was made just under an hour before Trump’s previously stated deadline for the attack. There had been speculation throughout the day about whether Trump would extend the deadline, which he has done on multiple occasions in recent weeks.

Trump initially warned that a bombing would occur if Iran did not comply with his demands, stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Tehran did not meet its conditions. However, he later claimed victory against Iran and stated that Tehran had delivered a feasible ceasefire proposal.

The details of the proposed agreement between the US and Iran remain unclear, but Trump stated that it would be a double-sided ceasefire and that negotiations are ongoing to achieve long-term peace in the Middle East.
