US President Trumps administration discusses Gaza reconstruction project with UAE company

Dubai-based logistics giant DP World has held talks with representatives from Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” to explore potential partnerships in managing supply chains and infrastructure projects in Gaza, according to a report by the Financial Times.
The discussions reportedly centered on the possibility of DP World partnering with the group to oversee logistics for humanitarian aid and commercial goods entering the besieged Palestinian enclave. This would involve warehousing, cargo tracking systems, and security arrangements. Other proposals discussed included building a new port in Gaza or on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, as well as creating a free-trade zone within the war-torn territory.
The talks are part of ongoing efforts by US officials to privatize much of Gaza’s services and infrastructure as part of their plans for “a new Gaza”. Critics have raised concerns that such proposals would sideline Palestinians, bypass international institutions, and risk legitimizing the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.
Since last year’s US-brokered ceasefire, Israeli attacks have resulted in over 700 civilian deaths and approximately 2,000 injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The Financial Times reported on a draft proposal that outlined a vision for a “secure and traceable supply chain system” and a “port-led economic ecosystem”, alongside light industry and job-creation platforms.
DP World’s spokesperson stated they were not aware of any discussions. The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to the Financial Times’ request for comment. A joint assessment by the European Union, UN, and World Bank estimated that Gaza will require $71.4 billion in reconstruction over the next 10 years, including $23 billion needed within the next 18 months.
